About us

Walk in the Woods Resitential Services - Bill DriscollHello, My name is Bill Driscoll. I began my career in supported living services for the elderly in 1979. As a Case Manager for King Phillip Elder Services I coordinated social services for senior citizens to help them continue independent living in their own homes. My next opportunity was at Brandon Training School which served a wide range of developmentally disabled adults. I've witnessed and have been part of the deinstitutionalization of this population from large facilities to small family oriented homes. The change in these people's lives have been dramatic. While operating a supervised apartment program and providing direct care services for over 25 years I have met many wonderful people dedicated to improving the lives of those who need a little extra help to make it on their own. To this day I personally provide direct care to individuals in my home and have expanded my services beyond the elderly and developmentally disabled. Support services are not only available to these groups but also to any individual who needs support promoting or maintaining their independent living.

The setting we have here on Woodford Mountain is unique. It allows for a tranquil life style, appreciation of nature, yet is is accessible to community services in nearby Bennington, VT. We also have residential apartments, and houses in the historic town of Bennington. Some residents need supported living services while other just enjoy the change from city to country living. Our living alternatives can serve a number of different people ranging from the developmentally disabled, elderly, learning impaired, young adults stagnant at home, or any person needing a change of environment. Professionals such as artist and writers have also found our Woodford setting to be an enjoyable mountaintop retreat.

In addition to our supported living services we operate a separate motel, open year round to the public. We host six VT themed rooms that are close to many outdoor attractions. Snowmobilers enjoy driving directly from the motel to the V.A.S.T. trails. Skiers have the choice of cross-country (Prospect Mt., 1 mile) and alpine skiing at Haystack Mountain or Mount Snow Ski Resort. Summer patrons enjoy the nearby Appalachian long trail, biking, hiking, state parks, hunting and fishing. The fall foliage season is very popular since we are located in the thick of things on Woodford Mountain.

I would love to talk to you about the supported living, lodging, and residential opportunities we offer here in the beautiful Green Mountains of Vermont.

Sincerely,
William F. Driscoll
